Thursday - Friday, April 5th - 6th 9am - 4:30pm

Ages 6 - 12

Fee $400, which includes registration, materials, and one nut oil, and sugar free snack.

INSTRUCTOR: Hanna Leah Gibbs.

This fun filled workshop will teach your child to create and develop their very own character, and develop their story on a ve panel comic story board (12x18”) to tell the visual narrative of their chosen character.

Day 1: We will introduce the concept of a story board comic strip. Students will start planning out their story and what will be happening in each of the ve panels of their story board. We will then start creating their character. Students will be taught simple shape identication drawing using wooden artist models, plaster casts and photos. For younger students this lesson will be simplied a bit and less complicated casts will be used. After their character is created they will proceed to draw a side view of the same character. Once their character is fully developed they will sketch out a thumbnail version, very small scale, of their story board. Where applicable, an intro to horizon line perspective will be taught. Their character can live in any imaginary environment the artist thinks up. At the end of day one, students will have developed their character and thumbnail sketch of their story board. Some students may move on to start drawing their large size panels.

Day 2: Students will be introduced to enlarging and developing their story from their thumbnail version to a 12x18" comic strip using the simple shape identication drawing taught during day one. Once the whole story has been transferred they will be taught the inking process - rst on their thumbnail versions and then onto their nal story board. Color theory and blending will be introduced with colored pencils and markers after they nish their inking process.

PLEASE NOTE: Parents are required to supply a cold lunch, refrigeration available, which is nut oil and sugar free. We will oer a LATE PICK UP option at an additional fee of $20 per half hour after 4:30pm and is to be paid directly to the instructor on the day of the workshop. Pick up can be no later than 5:30pm.
